Selectman’s Welcome Message
Greetings from the Town of Westport. The Westport/Weston Chamber of Commerce plays an important role in promoting Westport businesses and economic life in our community. By your Chamber membership, you are demonstrating your commitment to make Westport an exemplary place in which to live, work, and grow your business.
The town works closely with the Chamber, its members and all our businesses to ensure that we are providing you with the services that meet your needs. We are proud of our many stores, fine restaurants, theaters and art galleries and especially of our ever-changing downtown area.
This year, the Town of Westport is beginning work on our Town Plan of Conservation and Development. Put together with the help of an outside consultant and input from many segments of our community, it will serve as our main planning document for the next 10 years. I urge you to make your views known at various community forums in coming months about what you would like to see in the plan.
We have launched a number of new initiatives of interest to the business community. One is our “Celebrate Westport” program which seeks to promote events designed to bring Westporters together and revive the small town feeling of years ago. The new Westport Farmers Market at the Westport Country Playhouse typifies the kind of events we hope will achieve this goal.
Maintaining a viable Westport economy is vital to the well being of our community. I am grateful for the efforts of the Chamber and its members in making Westport such an attractive place to live, work, and visit. If I can be of assistance to you, please let me know. I welcome your questions, concerns, and, of course, suggestions.
Sincerely,
Gordon F. Joseloff First Selectman
